Husbands, do you affirm your love for your wife? Yes you
love her, but do you affirm your
love on a regular basis? Yes, it’s good to tell her you love her, but do you AFFIRM your love for her? I’m talking
about the little things you did when you courted her. You did this in the past,
but what about now? There should be regular and daily affirmation of love
between spouses. The Bible says, “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ
also loved the church, and gave himself for it” (Eph 5:25). Christ didn't just love the Church, He affirmed His love by giving His life for it.
This regular affirmation “sweetens the pot” and the
relationship is better as result. Let me suggest 12 things you can do to affirm
your love for her and make life better in your home:
1. Tell
her she looks great after she finishes her morning prep to go to work or to
church or wherever. In some cases she
will be taken aback when this is heard but it will make her day.
2. The
next time you stop at the grocery store to pick up a few things, grab a small
bouquet of flowers and put them in a vase in a prominent place where she will
see them. You don’t have to spend a lot of money; it’s the thought that counts.
3. Plan
a weekend get-away for the two of you. You
make the reservations and plan everything.
4. Make
it a habit to open doors for her. This includes automobiles, restaurants,
church, and everywhere else.
5. Use
Social Media to tell the world how wonderful she is.
6. Put
your arm around her and hold her close in church or anywhere else the two of
you are sitting together.
7. After
a big meal let her relax and you do all the cleanup (load dishwasher, put food
away, tidy up, etc.). Make this a habit.
8. Hold
her hand in public and private.
9. Listen
to her when she speaks. Be sensitive to her need of a listening ear. If you are
working on the computer when she says something, turn around (away from the PC)
to face her and give her your undivided attention.
10. Treat her like a Queen. She is something
special and needs to feel special because of you.
11. Look for ways to compliment her. If she’s a
good cook, tell her. When she comes home from getting her hair done, tell her
she looks great. Brag on her privately and publicly.
12. Take time to major on intimacy with her.
